Jesus Informs Our Faith

So what’s it like living in tight quarters?

These are such peculiar days! Normally, if we were tired of the same four walls we could run out to the Mall, to the Park, to the Store... We could go somewhere and do something! How strange it is not to find some of those familiar destinations available to us!

This unusual time is now a very trying time for some of you. Some of us may have asked, “What is God up to?”

Today’s outline offers information from “Focus on the Family” website, an article composed by Joannie Debrito. Please take time to visit their website listed at the end of this article.
– Pastor Kevin

When you are working from home, you may have goals that you need to accomplish that day. However, it’s unrealistic to think that your kids will comply with the goals you have. So how do you find that sweet spot – where you are able to reach your goals and still respond well to your kids?

Children Under Foot!?

Is it time to admit that having children home all the time – might not be what we thought it would be?

Joannie Debrito writes, “Working from home comes with its own set of challenges. It’s important to have a quiet space where you can work, minimize distractions, set a routine, and focus on your goals for the day. Working from home with kids can add a new dynamic to your job. When our kids are on extended breaks from school and are sharing the same space, distractions can come more easily which can impact our productiveness.”

When I was growing up, the third of four children, I didn’t think anything of it, but later wonder how my Mom put up with us! Four children born in a span of 5-6 years!

An Ugly Secret

From a Pastor . . .
An Ugly Secret – What most concerns me is that you may be in trouble – and no one will
ever know. You won’t tell anyone. You won’t phone a friend. You won’t nudge a neighbor. You will suffer in silence – until it’s nearly too late.

I’ve heard too many times from men especially, that they didn’t want to bother anyone with their problems. We were raised to believe that we’re supposed to be tough enough to handle anything.

But now we’re facing circumstances that the world has never undergone before!

It’s a freekin’ world-wide pandemic! I think it’s okay to change the rules now!

A Child’s Question about the Coronavirus – Part 3

4/3/2020

Let me get back to your question. The world in which we live is no longer perfect or “good” as God first declared. In some ways, it is broken.

Because it is broken, God has prepared a more perfect place, a place beyond what we can see with our human eyes – a place we call heaven! Heaven is better than anything we’ve experienced and it will last forever! That’s a big part of our Easter message! When we compare what heaven will be like and how long we will enjoy heaven, our time in this world is so very short.

A Child’s Question about the Coronavirus – Part 2

Natural Consequences. I need to explain something about consequences. When I was your age, and I disobeyed my Dad, I would get in trouble. Sometimes I would get in trouble because what I had done could have hurt me or hurt someone else. What if I had left the skillet on – and later my little sister walked into the kitchen, and not knowing there was a danger of a hot skillet, she reached her hand up on the counter into the skillet and was burned real bad?

A Child's Question about the Coronavirus - Part 1

4/1/2020

One of our 7 year-olds in Church thought that I might have a good answer to his questions, so his mother passed them on to me. I’m happy to respond because I believe there are others who want answers to these same questions:
  1. Why would God allow the coronavirus to spread throughout the world?
  2. If God is the Creator of everything, did He also create the virus?
  3. Did the devil invent or create the virus?
  4. Is the devil winning if the threat, the illness, and death are spreading?

In order to answer these questions it’s important that we lay the groundwork for some
basic Christian understanding.
