Rev. Sam McMinn

Hi all! My name is Sam McMinn, and I’m excited to join you as your new pastor! I was born and raised in South Charleston and currently live in Charleston with my wife, Katlyn, and our two daughters, Eloise (4 years old) and Edith (1 year old).
I grew up in the church, and both of my parents ensured that faith was an important part of my life growing up. I felt a call to ministry when I was only 14 years old, and since that moment, I have been doing my best to pursue the call of God on my life. In order to prepare myself for ministry, I received a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Trevecca University in 2016 and a Master of Arts in Christian Formation and Discipleship from Nazarene Theological Seminary in 2019.
I have served in several different churches as a Youth Pastor, Worship Pastor, and Lead Pastor. I love and believe in the local church and how God works in and through the local church to bring the Kingdom of God to earth as it is in heaven. As a pastor, my passion is building relationships and a strong community of faith where life is shared, faith is grown, and ministry takes place for the sake of those in the church as well as those in the larger community. For me, relationships are everything, and I believe the church is at its best when there are strong relationships within the walls of the church as well as outside of the church.
When I’m not working, I love to be outside, whether that’s taking a hike with my family, bow hunting in the fall, or golfing. I also love music and enjoy singing and playing guitar.
I’m thrilled to minister to and with the people of Steele Memorial United Methodist Church, and I’m excited to be a part of what God is already doing here. Steele Memorial has a long history of faithfulness to God, and I believe God has big plans for us as He works in and through us to make us more like Jesus and to impact our communities together!
