Mina Lee is an accomplished pianist, as a soloist and collaborator, an accompanist, and a piano teacher, with over two decades of experience in each of these areas. She developed her passion for the piano from the age of six and established herself as a prodigious talent, winning numerous awards and competitions in Korea and Europe. Notably, she was the prizewinner at the 1st Internationaler Mozart Wettbewerb Berlin, Germany, and the Special Prize winner of the Best Mozart interpretation at the Concurso Internacional de PIANO 2017, Murcia, Spain. As a soloist and collaborative pianist, she has performed in various countries including Germany, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, France, Korea, and the USA.
Her mastery of the piano has taken her worldwide, where she has captivated audiences with her artistry and skill. The German press lauded her solo recital in Bochum in 2019 as "Fireworks of sound with a lot of emotion." Moreover, she has been invited to perform at various music festivals, including the Ferrara International Piano Festival, Festival die Pasqua, Accademia Europea Mozart and the International Music Festival in Italy, Lyon Academie de Fourviere in France, and the Internationale Musikbegegnungsstätte Haus Marteau in Germany.
Mina's extensive education and training have contributed significantly to her proficiency in playing the piano. She obtained her Bachelor of Music degree in Seoul, Korea. She then pursued her studies in Music at the Münster School of Music at the University of Münster, Germany, under the tutelage of Prof. Clemens Rave. Her studies continued at the Conservatorium Maastricht in the Netherlands, where she was mentored by Prof. Joop Ceils, the winner of the prestigious Busoni International Competition. Mina was granted the Zuyd Excellence Scholarship and earned her Master of Music, the highest degree for music in Europe, from the Conservatorium Maastricht. Her Master's thesis, titled "The Lyrical Performance of the First Movement of J. Brahms’ Violin Sonata op. 78," explored the score in connection with Brahms’ life and character for determining the elements of lyricism. Throughout her musical journey, she also sought out a variety of master classes with esteemed pianists such as Enrico Pace, Roland Pröll, Matitjahu Kellig, Prof. Julio Mourenza, and Gilead Mishory in several European countries to broaden and deepen her musical abilities and understanding.
As a devoted educator, Mina has been teaching gifted students since 2003, many of whom have won numerous awards in music competitions in Korea, Germany, and the United States. In Florida, she collaborated with professors and other professional performers at the University of Florida. Mina and her family relocated to West Virginia in the summer of 2024, and her husband is a professor at West Virginia State University. Mina is also actively participating in musical activities with her daughter, Harin Lee, a young professional violinist.
